Court Ordered Community Service

Some of our best helpers are those working to fulfill court-ordered community service hours. To complete community service hours for court, you must come to the shelter IN PERSON with your court papers that list your charges, fill out a community service application, and be approved. This application is not available online. You will not be allowed to begin doing hours until you’ve competed this.

You must arrive at 8:30 a.m. and stay for a minimum of four hours. You must have permission from a manager to complete hours on Sunday.

Students or anyone needing community service hours that are NOT court ordered only need to complete the
Online Volunteer Application
and attend a volunteer orientation.
volunteer veterinarian
Volunteer Veterinarian Help Needed

Are you a current student in a Veterinary Assistant or Vet Technician course, High School level or College? Do you need community service hours for school credit? Or are you interested in work experience in a veterinary setting to boost your resume when it’s graduation time? Then consider volunteering with the Flagler Humane Society!

We are looking for veterinary students who would like hands-on training in a real-life veterinary clinic. Textbooks and videos are great, but there’s nothing like practical experience with all kinds of animals to make your training come alive! Depending on your course of study, you will work alongside actual Vet Techs and Veterinarians in our Triage, Surgery or Shot Clinic settings.

You’ll learn how to clean and disinfect an animal enclosure to promote good health and wellbeing of the animal. You’ll learn techniques for holding an animal safely, checking their vitals, administering medications in all forms, and dietary needs! You will even be able to observe surgeries right in the operating rooms.

We are looking for students willing to give us a 6 month commitment of at least 12 hours weekly.

Outreach Events at local Pet stores: Come join us at PetSmart, PetCo, PetSupermarket and Tractor Supply Co. to promote adoptable dogs! We greet people, talk up the dogs, walk them about, feed them lots of biscuits, and get them adopted! We also solicit for pet food and monetary donations while talking about the shelter’s many services.
We are there Thursdays – Sundays from 10am – 3pm (half day shifts possible).

You will be added to our email list and will receive the weekly schedule for days and locations. Teen volunteers, aged 14-17, may volunteer at these events without a parent after completing the “Dog Walker Orientation” class and one initial visit with a parent. Edit
